Wedding weekend

This Sunday, 28th October, our guest speaker is Leontina Mulenga from Mutende Children's Village in Zambia, the orphanage for which we've been fund-raising.

We're delighted to have Leontina with us and be able to meet the person we've heard so much about.

This weekend sees the weddings of Bethan Mason (to Ben) and Angelo Meneghello (to Fiona). We wish both couples lots of luck and blessings for their futures together. (Together with each other but not with the other couple that is, of course!)

Slummin' it in Eden

We've just started a new series of teaching for Sunday mornings. We're looking at places in the Bible. Last week it was Eden: In the Beginning; this coming Sunday, 14th October, it's Eden:The Fall. Chris and Alun will continue their look at the early places the following week with The Promised Land.

Chris has some thoughts on The Fall that might surprise you ...

Also this Sunday evening we're meeting to worship for an hour or so from 7.00 pm. From next month we'll be meeting on the first Sunday evening of the month for worship. So that'll be 4th November.

What else? Unleashed, the group for young teens, is slummin' it the following weekend. They're going to sleep outside Linden in makeshift shelters they'll make themselves from whatever material they have been able to gather. It's all to do with Slum Survivor and, as it says on their website:
"Slum Survivor is a simulation experience designed to :
help young people get a taste of what life might be like in a slum;
reflect on God’s concern for the poor;
start thinking about how they can respond."
They're also being sponsored! Visitors are encouraged to call in but mustn't take any drinks, chocolate or anything else!

Passion beyond reason

God is passionate. About his creation, about his created beings. Evil rouses him to fury; suffering makes him weep. He isn't wishy washy; he isn't apathetic. He's strong; he's gentle; he is all-knowing; he waits to be told; he listens; he hears; and most of all he loves humanity to a depth and a height and a width that we can't understand.
